China’s Huawei races to beat Apple to release the first next-generation AI chip for smartphones

Huawei released the Kirin 980 chip, a so-called seven-nanonmeter processor for its upcoming Mate 20 smartphone, while Apple is widely expected to release its own A12 chip for the next set of iPhones.
